Tel Aviv, Israel – Israeli fighter jets were scrambled to intercept a Wizz Air passenger flight from London bound for Ben Gurion Airport in central Israel. This happened due to a security alert on board flight W95310. It was later determined that there was no actual threat.
The Israel Airports Authority explained in an official statement that the decision was made after “suspicious behavior” was detected on board the aircraft. As a result, exceptional measures were taken to ensure the safety of the passengers and the airport. The statement added that after the alert was cleared, the plane landed safely. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
Videos circulating online showed police officers waiting for passengers after they disembarked. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing to determine the precise reasons behind this unusual security measure.
Some reports indicated that passengers noticed unusual activity on board. For example, one passenger viewed suspicious content on another passenger’s phone screen. Other reports stated that two passengers received what was described as a “threatening message.” This incident prompted the activation of security procedures.
The airport authority stated: “Due to suspected unusual behavior on board the aircraft, security forces acted according to established procedures for such cases to ensure the safety of passengers and the airport.”
