Rabat, Morocco – A recent international report has ranked the Kingdom of Morocco as one of the world’s most effective countries in confronting and thwarting terrorist plots.
This reinforces Rabat’s position as a regional security power and a global benchmark in proactive and vigilant strategies.
Global lead with 96 points
Morocco topped the list of the five most effective countries in countering terrorist attacks,
according to a ranking by the specialized firm Valence Global.
This ranking was published by the Homeland Security website.
Morocco scored 96 out of 100 points, outperforming major countries such as Singapore, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
The ranking was based on precise indicators including:
Data on preemptive arrests and prosecutions.
Indicators for measuring the impact of terrorism and the ability to neutralize risks.
The efficiency of intelligence agencies in detecting sleeper cells.
A comprehensive approach: security, religion, and development
The report and experts attribute the success of the Moroccan experience to the “integrated model” established by King Mohammed VI.
This model is not limited to a purely security-based approach, but extends to include:
The intellectual and religious dimension: Spreading the moderate religious model and combating hate speech.
The socio-economic dimension: Investing in human development to block the path to ideological polarization.
International cooperation: Morocco has become an indispensable partner for international powers (such as France and the United States).
This is particularly evident in tracking the movements of jihadists in the Sahel and Sahara regions of Africa.
International praise and UN confidence
In this context, the report cited the praise of Nicolas Lerner, the head of France’s external security service (DGSE),
who highly valued cooperation with Moroccan agencies in pursuing jihadists.
It also highlighted Rabat’s hosting of the headquarters of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism
Training Programme in Africa as tangible evidence of international confidence in the Kingdom’s national strategy.
It is worth noting that since the May 2003 attacks, Morocco has developed a proactive security system.
This system has enabled it to dismantle hundreds of terrorist cells before they could carry out attacks.
For this reason, the Moroccan experience has become a model
that many countries seek to learn from through joint security and training agreements.
