Cairo, Egypt – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty held two telephone conversations, one with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and the other with US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Wittkopf. The calls addressed developments in the region amid escalating regional tensions.
During the two calls, Minister Abdel-Aty stressed the need to intensify efforts to de-escalate tensions and work towards achieving calm. This is crucial to prevent the region from sliding into further cycles of instability. He also emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment for prioritizing diplomatic solutions. The aim is to reach sustainable political settlements that support regional security and stability.
The Foreign Minister also stressed the importance of adhering to diplomatic channels and creating the necessary conditions for resuming dialogue between the United States and Iran. This is aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement on the nuclear issue that takes into account the interests of all parties.
