Davos, Switzerland – Dr. Ali Shaath, head of the Palestinian National Authority’s committee for managing the Gaza Strip, thanked US President Donald Trump and his administration.
He praised what he described as their “strong efforts” to achieve peace in the region.
This came during his speech at the signing ceremony of the Peace Council Charter, held today, Thursday, in Davos, Switzerland.
There were several leaders and representatives of countries participating in the World Economic Forum.
Shaath also thanked Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, as well as Qatar and Turkey, for their role as mediators in the de-escalation process.
He considered these efforts “a true example and an opportunity to build a new future in Gaza.”
Shaath said, “What really matters is what happens next.
This opportunity will succeed if it translates into tangible improvements in the daily lives of the people of Gaza,”
stressing his responsibility, as head of the National Committee for the Administration of the Sector.
He said he must turn this political moment into practical steps on the ground.
He added, “We will work to restore order, build institutions, and create a future for the people of Gaza based on opportunity and dignity, under one law and one authority.”
Shaath announced the reopening of the Rafah crossing from both sides starting next week.
He emphasized its vital importance as a “symbol of unity” and a crucial lifeline
for ensuring the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
In closing, he addressed the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, saying, “To our steadfast and patient people,
you have persevered and protected your families and your land during difficult and trying years.
Your resilience is legendary and among your greatest achievements.”
