Tehran, Iran – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned that any attack targeting Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei would inevitably lead to a full-scale war. He emphasized that Tehran considers any harm to its supreme leader a grave transgression of all red lines. Therefore, such an act would not go unanswered. In official remarks, Pezeshkian stated that the Supreme Leader represents the symbol of the state and its political and religious unity. He added that any attack on him would not be viewed as an isolated incident, but rather as a declaration of war against Iran, its institutions, and its people. He affirmed that the Islamic Republic would not hesitate to use all available means to defend its sovereignty and national security should such a scenario unfold.
The Iranian president indicated that the repeated threats issued by regional and international parties against the Iranian leadership contribute to increased tension and instability in the Middle East. He also held these parties responsible for any potential escalation that might spiral out of control. He affirmed that Tehran does not seek war, but at the same time, it will not stand idly by in the face of any aggression against its security or symbols of sovereignty. Pezeshkian stressed that his country prefers political and diplomatic solutions. He also called on the international community to play a more active role in curbing what he described as provocative policies. He further called for preventing the region from sliding into an open confrontation that would be costly for everyone. He explained that any military escalation would not be limited to one party but would extend to the entire region, thus having serious repercussions for global security, stability, and the economy. The Iranian president’s statements come amidst escalating regional tensions and increasing warnings about the potential for the conflict to expand. This comes amidst international concerns about the situation deteriorating into a direct confrontation between regional and international powers if the language of threats and mutual escalation continues.
