Baghdad, Iraq – Iraqi intelligence announced a major security breakthrough, dismantling one of the world’s most dangerous organized crime networks in a highly sophisticated and complex operation carried out with high-level coordination both inside and outside the country.
An official statement indicated that the operation followed months of meticulous intelligence gathering and surveillance, during which specialized agencies were able to track the movements of network members and gather detailed information about their illicit activities, which included money smuggling, drug trafficking, money laundering, and transnational connections.
The statement indicated that the arrested leaders were among the masterminds of the network, which operated from several countries, exploiting security and border vulnerabilities in certain areas, before Iraqi intelligence successfully launched a preemptive strike that crippled its ability to operate and organize.
Authorities confirmed that the operation was carried out without casualties and resulted in the seizure of documents, communication devices, and funds used to finance criminal activities. They noted that investigations are ongoing to uncover the remaining local and international connections of the network.
This operation comes within the framework of the continuous efforts exerted by Iraqi security agencies to enhance stability, pursue organized crime networks, and demonstrate their ability to confront complex security threats, reflecting the development of Iraqi intelligence performance at both the regional and international levels.
