Washington, DC – Western media reports indicate that the US is preparing for imminent military action in response to the Iranian authorities’ crackdown on protesters. The reports assert that the US administration is considering “offensive options,” coinciding with a significant military buildup in the region.
Cyberattacks and Starlink to break the isolation
The British newspaper The Telegraph quoted US officials as saying that the United States is preparing to launch aggressive cyberattacks against targets belonging to the Iranian regime. As part of its support for the civil movement, Washington is also considering sending Starlink satellite internet stations into Iran. This would enable activists to circumvent the government’s strict communications restrictions.
Israeli military coordination and mobilization
On the ground, reports indicate that the Israeli military has placed its forces on high alert in anticipation of a potential US attack. Sources point to scenarios including possible Israeli support for US airstrikes, independent Israeli strikes against specific targets, and preparations for an Iranian response that could include missile launches toward Israel, even if the latter does not directly participate in the attack.
Options on Trump’s table
In a related development, two US administration officials told Politico that a list of “military and civilian” options is scheduled to be presented to President Donald Trump next Tuesday. These options include targeted surgical strikes inside Iranian territory. They also include large-scale cyber operations to cripple the regime’s capabilities. The officials emphasized that the Trump administration is seeking to avoid options that could lead to widespread humanitarian consequences for civilians. They are focusing instead on the regime’s repressive tools.
