Damascus, Syria – The Syrian Arab Army’s Operations Directorate threatened a “violent” military response. This threat followed what it described as a “dangerous escalation” by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
This comes after it brought in military reinforcements. These reinforcements supposedly include fighters from the PKK and remnants of the former regime.
According to an official statement carried by the Syrian news agency SANA.
The authority confirmed in a statement issued Monday that it “will not stand idly by in the face of this escalation.” It stressed that any military action by these groups “will be met with a decisive response.”
Accurate intelligence assessment
She added that the relevant authorities are monitoring developments on the ground in a “direct and immediate” manner. They are conducting a precise intelligence assessment of the nature and deployment of the reinforcements.
According to the statement, army sources observed the arrival of additional armed groups. They arrived at SDF deployment points in the eastern Aleppo countryside.
Especially in the vicinity of Maskana and Deir Hafer. This occurs at a time when the authority indicated that army aircraft had been spotted earlier,
This is to transport medium and heavy equipment to the Deir Hafer front, east of Aleppo province. The ultimate objectives of these troop movements remain unclear.
In a related context, SANA published via the X platform pictures. These pictures were said to show three tunnels dug by the SDF organization.
This occurred while he was in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo. The aim was to use it in carrying out attacks on residential areas.
New military movements
The Syrian army also announced earlier today the completion of mine-clearing operations. They claimed these mines were planted by the SDF around the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, as part of measures to secure residential areas.
This escalation comes amid rising tensions on the ground north and east of Aleppo. There are also official warnings about the repercussions of any new military actions on the stability of the region.
This comes with assurances from the Syrian army that it is ready to deal with developments. They aim to do so “in a way that guarantees the safety of civilians and preserves the sovereignty of the state.”
