Tehran, Iran – Amid escalating protests in several Iranian cities, Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, accused Israel of orchestrating attempts to destabilize the country. Larijani asserted that the current developments clearly indicate “external interference” aimed at pushing Iran toward dangerous scenarios. These scenarios include primarily igniting a civil war and paving the way for foreign intervention.
In official statements carried by Iranian media, Larijani said that security agencies have detected “abnormal patterns” in the management of some demonstrations. He indicated that external parties are attempting to exploit the .legitimate social and economic demands of some protesters
Tools for conflict and chaos
They are trying to transform them into tools of conflict and chaos that threaten civil peace. He added that Israel is among the primary beneficiaries of any internal unrest in Iran. He further stated that Israel has been attempting for years to shift the confrontation to within Iran. This is after failing to achieve its objectives through political pressure and sanctions.
Larijani’s remarks come at a time when Iran is witnessing sporadic protests over living conditions and the economy. These conditions have been exacerbated by Western sanctions, high inflation rates, and declining purchasing power. Some of these protests have been accompanied by violence and vandalism of public facilities. This has prompted authorities to tighten security measures. A number of those involved in the riots have also been arrested.
psychological and media warfare
The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council affirmed that the Iranian state “clearly distinguishes between legitimate peaceful protest and organized attempts at sabotage.” He stressed that the relevant authorities will deal firmly with any actions aimed at undermining national security.
And he also warned against being drawn into calls for incitement broadcast through foreign platforms. He described them as part of a “psychological and media war” aimed at weakening the state from within.
Conversely, the Iranian official emphasized that his country is open to addressing the economic and social crises through legal and institutional frameworks. He asserted that “betting on chaos and foreign intervention will only bring more suffering to the Iranian people.”
