Cairo, Egypt – Egyptian Foreign and Immigration Minister Badr Abdel-Aty reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Yemen. This came during his meeting on Tuesday with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg.

Abdel-Aati stressed the paramount importance of preserving Yemen’s national institutions, considering them the cornerstone for protecting the Yemeni people’s resources. He warned that undermining them could plunge the region into new cycles of escalation and instability.

In this context, the Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed the need for concerted regional and international efforts to consolidate the ceasefire and reduce tensions. This would contribute to creating a conducive environment for relaunching the political process. He explained that the desired solution must be based on a comprehensive Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue leading to a final settlement. This settlement must meet the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security and stability and put an end to their ongoing humanitarian suffering.

The meeting included extensive discussions on the latest developments in Yemen. This came within the framework of ongoing coordination and consultation between Cairo and the United Nations. This coordination supports international efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political solution to the Yemeni crisis.

For his part, UN envoy Hans Grundberg reviewed the latest developments in his contacts with various stakeholders in the Yemeni conflict. He expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s vital role in supporting the de-escalation process. He also affirmed his commitment to continued coordination with the Egyptian side, describing Cairo as a pivotal and indispensable regional partner in strengthening security and stability in the region.
