Anwar al-Tamimi, spokesman for the Southern Transitional Council, warned of the danger of the air strike that targeted the port of Mukalla, describing it as a dangerous escalation that threatens security and stability in Hadramawt Governorate.
This further complicates the Yemeni scene at a very sensitive time.
In statements to Sky News Arabia, Al-Tamimi said that the recent decisions issued by the head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, lacked consensus within the council.
This has a negative impact on the security and political situation, especially in the southern governorates.
He added that targeting the port of Mukalla is regrettable and dangerous,
given the vital importance of the port to the residents of Hadramawt, Shabwa and Al-Mahra.
and He stressed that he had not been subjected to such bombing even during the battles to liberate it from Al-Qaeda.
The strike is causing a disaster
He explained that the strike nearly caused a large-scale disaster,
given the presence of sensitive storage facilities inside the port.
Its damage could have extended for several kilometers on land and sea, threatening civilians and infrastructure.
Al-Tamimi pointed out that the public anger that followed the bombing strengthened the
commitment of the people of Hadramawt and the South to their political project.
The break deepened with what he described as the behavior of the head of the Presidential Leadership Council.
He believes that these practices disqualify him from being a consensus president and do not reflect a sense of national responsibility.
Al-Tamimi criticized what he described as “reckless and unilateral” decisions,
including declaring a state of emergency and imposing a siege.
The decision was not adopted
He stressed that it was not adopted by consensus or majority within the leadership council,
but was passed without a formal meeting or institutional discussion.
He considered it to be in the interest of the Houthis and terrorist groups.
and He warned that continuing these policies would weaken the anti-Houthi front.
He stressed that the group is exploiting political division and internal confusion to strengthen its military movements.
Al-Tamimi concluded by emphasizing that the way out of the crisis is through
a return to the principle of partnership and consensus.
Likewise, unilateral decision-making should be stopped, and dialogue should be prioritized,
in order to preserve the stability of Yemen and the region.
