Ankara, Turkey – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan affirmed on Monday, December 29, 2025, his country’s determination to continue the fight against terrorist organizations both within and beyond Turkey’s borders. This came in his first comments on the security operation targeting ISIS in Yalova province, which resulted in the deaths of three police officers.
Erdogan: A resolute and multi-dimensional struggle
In remarks following the attack, President Erdoğan emphasized that the state would not compromise on its security, stating, “We will continue our fight against the bloodthirsty murderers who target the peace of our nation and the security of our state, resolutely, comprehensively, and without any concessions.”
He also offered his condolences to the families of the victims, affirming that justice would be served against all those who seek to destabilize the country.
Details of the operation: A confrontation that lasted 8 hours
For his part, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya revealed that the operation targeted an ISIS hideout in the village of Elmalik in the Ismailpaşa district. Clashes erupted after the terrorists opened fire on security forces upon their arrival. The operation resulted in the deaths of three police officers and injuries to eight others, including one security guard.
Six ISIS terrorists were killed during the clashes, and civilians were rescued during the operation.
The minister noted that the operation was carried out with great sensitivity due to the presence of civilians inside the targeted building. He confirmed that the forces successfully evacuated five women and six children unharmed before eliminating the terrorist elements.
Security alert ahead of celebrations
The operation is part of a broad security campaign launched by Turkish authorities ahead of New Year’s celebrations. The campaign aims to track down terrorist cells and prevent any attacks targeting civilians or vital infrastructure in the country.
