Damascus, Syria – The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced today a major security achievement: the arrest of Taha al-Zoubi, also known as Abu Omar Tabia, a prominent leader in the ISIS terrorist organization. This leader held the position of the so-called “governor of Damascus,” and his arrest was made during a precise security operation targeting one of the organization’s hideouts in the Damascus countryside.
Details of the operation: Intelligence coordination and seizure of explosive belts
In a press statement, the commander of internal security in the Damascus countryside, Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Dalati, revealed that the specialized units, in coordination with the General Intelligence Service and the international coalition forces, carried out a raid on a court in the city of Al-Muadhamiya.
Al-Dalati explained that the operation was the result of intensive intelligence gathering. It led to the arrest of the leader, Taha al-Zoubi (the governor of Damascus), and the capture of several of his close aides. A suicide belt and a military weapon were also seized from those arrested.
A firm message: “Syria’s security is a red line.”
Brigadier General Dalati described the operation as a “devastating blow” to the terrorist organization’s structure. He affirmed that security forces are at their highest level of readiness to confront any threat.
He added in a strongly worded message: “The hand of justice will reach everyone who is involved in the project of terrorism or provides assistance to the remnants of ISIS. They will have no refuge in our land, and we will continue to strike with an iron fist until complete cleansing.”
