Tel Aviv, Israel – Israeli forces carried out new incursions on Sunday into various areas of the Quneitra countryside in southwestern Syria. The incursions included heavy gunfire into the air, constituting a new and serious violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
Details of the field incursion
A correspondent for the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported multiple incursions into areas both north and south of the province. An Israeli patrol consisting of two military vehicles entered from the Adnaniyah point. There, they set up a temporary checkpoint at the strategic intersection of the village of Umm al-Adham, which connects it to the villages of Ruwayhinah and al-Mushayrifah.
In the southern countryside, a second patrol advanced west of the town of Al-Rafid and fired shots into the air to intimidate the residents. Meanwhile, a third patrol, supported by five military vehicles, entered the village of Saida Al-Hanout.
Continued violations and the Syrian response
This escalation on the ground comes a day after a series of similar incursions into the southern and central Quneitra countryside yesterday, confirming the occupation’s determination to cross international lines.
