Taipei, Taiwan – At least three people were killed and five others injured in a series of violent knife attacks inside the Taipei Metro.

Highlights
  • The attacker was neutralized and security was established.
  • Intensive investigations into the motives behind the incident
  • Precautionary measures in public transport
  • Tighten security measures

According to a fire department official quoted by AFP, the incident occurred at a Metro station;

This led to widespread panic and chaos among the passengers before the authorities intervened.

The attacker was neutralized and security was established.

In a related context, authorities clarified that the suspect, a 27-year-old man, also died during the incident.

However, official authorities have not yet clarified the exact circumstances of his death,

and whether he was killed by security forces or for other reasons.

Simultaneously, emergency teams were able to take control of the site

and evacuate the injured under heavy security.

Intensive investigations into the motives behind the incident

Based on initial findings, investigations are still underway to determine the motives behind this crime.

And whether it is due to criminal reasons or psychological disorders.

To date, the police have not announced any link between the incident and terrorist groups.

Initial assessments suggest it was an isolated individual act,

but all hypotheses remain open to the investigating authorities.

Precautionary measures in public transport

For its part, Taipei police imposed a security cordon around the station

and temporarily suspended train traffic to ensure the safety of the facility.

Although the service is gradually being restored, the authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution.

Regarding the health condition of the injured, health authorities confirmed

that some of them are in critical condition and are currently undergoing surgery and close medical monitoring.

Tighten security measures

In conclusion, this shocking incident comes at a time when Taiwan is intensifying

its security measures on public transportation, given that millions of residents rely on the metro daily.

The relevant authorities then continued to gather evidence and listen to eyewitnesses.

A comprehensive statement detailing the final findings will be issued

as soon as the initial investigations are completed.
