Washington, DC – The US Department of Homeland Security revealed in its annual report at the end of the year a sharp decline in illegal immigration and cross-border crime. It confirmed that enhanced security measures yielded unprecedented results during the past year.
According to the report, attempts to illegally cross the U.S. border decreased by 93% compared to the previous year, marking one of the largest declines ever recorded. The report also indicated that fentanyl smuggling operations were halved, reflecting intensified efforts to combat smuggling networks and organized crime.
The ministry added, according to Fox News, that hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants with criminal records have been arrested or deported from the United States. This comes as part of a broad campaign to strengthen domestic security and protect American society from crimes linked to illegal immigration.
The report confirmed that these results stemmed from integrated efforts among federal law enforcement agencies and enhanced border control. These efforts included expanding arrest and deportation operations against wanted individuals, as well as tightening measures against human and drug trafficking networks.
Commenting on the report, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the figures reflect a clear shift in immigration and security policy. She emphasized that the current administration is “still at the beginning of the road.” She added, “Under President Trump’s leadership, we are working to make America safe again, putting the interests of the American people first.”
These results are seen as an indication of the success of the new security strategy. It focuses on direct deterrence, enhanced border control, and expedited legal proceedings against violators. This comes at a time when immigration and border security remain among the most contentious issues in American politics.
The Department of Homeland Security affirms that these policies will continue in the next phase. This includes expanding field operations and security coordination. This will ensure the preservation of the gains achieved and strengthen long-term domestic stability.
