Moscow, Russia – The Russian Defense Ministry said its forces carried out a focused military operation. This operation targeted vital energy and infrastructure facilities, as well as logistical sites used to support Ukrainian forces inside the capital, Kyiv.
The ministry explained in a statement carried by Russian media that the operation was carried out as part of a coordinated attack. This attack involved several types of high-precision weapons, with the aim of reducing the operational capabilities and disrupting the supply lines upon which Ukrainian forces depend.
The statement added that the strike achieved its objectives according to plan. The ministry confirmed that the targeting was limited to designated military sites, without elaborating on the extent or nature of the damage.
On the other hand, Ukrainian authorities did not immediately issue an official comment on the Russian announcement. Local sources reported heightened security measures and partial service disruptions in some districts of the capital.
This development comes at a time of escalating tensions between the two sides. It coincides with international diplomatic efforts to contain the crisis, amid growing concerns about the repercussions of the escalation on the humanitarian situation and the energy sector in the region.
