Cairo, Egypt – With a torn heart and unforgettable memories, Brazilian legend Ronaldinho emphasized the difficulty of predicting a winner between Paris Saint-Germain and Flamengo for the Intercontinental Cup title. This comes amidst his long-standing association with both clubs and his time representing them throughout his football career.
Paris Saint-Germain of France are scheduled to meet Flamengo of Brazil tomorrow, Wednesday, at the Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium in Qatar, in the final of the Intercontinental Cup.
Brazilian club Flamengo had qualified for the Intercontinental Cup final after defeating Pyramids 2-0 in the Challenge Cup.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain will play in the Intercontinental Cup final as the Champions League winners.
Ronaldinho said in comments via FIFA’s website: “When you have a history with both sides, it becomes difficult to choose one. The most important thing is to appreciate what this final represents”.
He added: “Flamengo are having a great time right now, and it’s great for us to see a Brazilian club playing in another big final of this magnitude”.
He continued: “Paris Saint-Germain is also going through a good period; it is a confident and competitive team”.
Ronaldinho talks about his time at Paris Saint-Germain
He continued: “My time with Paris Saint-Germain was a special phase of growth and transformation for the club. It came at a time when the club was beginning to establish itself on the world stage. To be part of that phase, to contribute to building the club’s identity and leaving a mark, is something I am still proud of to this day.”
Ronaldinho stressed: “They were two very important milestones in my career. What impressed me most about Flamengo was the size of the club and the great support from the fans.”
He added: “Wearing that shirt carries a huge responsibility. The daily life of Brazilian football, with all its passion and demands, has been an extremely intense experience.”
The Brazilian legend concluded by saying: “I expect it to be a great and exciting match, full of technical quality and emotion. We hope it will be a great football spectacle.”
Ronaldinho began his football career with Grêmio in Brazil before moving to Paris in 2001. There, he embarked on a successful career in European football. Thanks to his dazzling skills and remarkable natural talent, he quickly won the hearts of Paris Saint-Germain fans.
His outstanding performances with the Parisian club led him to earn a place in the Brazilian national team participating in the FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan 2002™. He won the World Cup title with the “Seleção”, shortly before signing with Barcelona.
After two spells with Barcelona and Milan, Ronaldinho decided to return to his homeland in January 2011 by signing with Flamengo.
During his time with the Rio de Janeiro giants, he played 74 matches, scoring 28 goals, and won the Rio State Championship title.
