Sydney, Australia – The confirmed death toll from the horrific mass shooting targeting a Hanukkah celebration on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, has risen to nine, with authorities announcing that one attacker was also shot dead. Twelve civilians were injured in the attack, along with two police officers who were shot.

Australian government sources indicate that the death toll is expected to rise. Andrew Clennell, political editor for Sky News Australia, revealed that his sources confirmed the number of fatalities would continue to climb and that authorities anticipated it would be a “significant number.”

Details of the confrontation and shooting

The attack occurred around 6:30 p.m. local time on Sunday, with hundreds of people seen fleeing the scene in chaos. Video footage showed two men dressed in black firing shots near the beachside parking lot.

Extraordinary video footage revealed the bravery of a civilian who confronted one of the gunmen, managing to tackle him to the ground and disarm him. The gunman was then seen stumbling away as other men began to pursue him.

But the gunfire continued as another gunman fired from a nearby bridge. It was later confirmed that one of the attackers had been shot dead, while the other suspect was apprehended.

Emergency operations and intensive security response continue in the area, with authorities describing the situation as tragic and evolving.
