Abu Dhabi, UAE – Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, met with Nikolay Mladenov, Director-General of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy
and former UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process.
This took place on the sidelines of their participation in the Sir Bani Yas Forum.
The two sides discussed developments in the regional situation and the latest developments in the Palestinian issue.
As well as international efforts aimed at ending the war and restoring the political process.
A call to implement Trump’s plan
During the meeting, the Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of the full implementation of President Trump’s peace plan.
He pointed out the need to move to its second phase and to commit to implementing Security Council Resolution 2803.
Abdel-Aati also stressed Egypt’s categorical rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land.
Egyptian demands for the transitional phase
The Egyptian minister outlined his country’s vision for the next phase.
Emphasizing the importance of forming an international stabilization force,
Activating the pivotal role of the Palestinian technocrat committee in managing the transitional phase.
The need to preserve the unity of Palestinian lands
Ensuring geographical connectivity between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
Warning of settler violence
Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty also warned of the dangers of escalating settler violence.
And to reaffirm the vital and irreplaceable role of UNRWA in supporting refugees.
For his part, Nikolay Mladenov expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal and effective role,
This supports regional stability and enhances the chances of peace in the region.
