Dublin, Ireland – Storm Bram brought much of Ireland to a standstill on Tuesday. Extremely dangerous winds left more than 54,000 homes and businesses without power. Schools and universities across the country were also closed.
The stormy weather led to the cancellation of at least 73 flights at Dublin Airport. Widespread power outages were reported in the boroughs of Wexford, Cork, Tipperary, Kildare, and Dublin.
Keith Leonard, National Director of the National Fire and Emergency Management Service, warned of the risk of structural damage, falling trees, and flying debris. He urged residents and drivers to exercise extreme caution.
Some areas also experienced localized flooding. Authorities raised marine warnings to orange along all coasts. Northern Ireland issued severe orange and yellow warnings, leading to the closure of the Christmas market in Belfast. Significant transport delays were also anticipated.
