Kyiv, Ukraine – US Special Envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, confirmed that efforts to reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine have reached a very advanced stage. He explained that success is very close, but remains contingent on resolving two key outstanding issues: the future of the Donbas region and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
Kellogg: We are in the “final ten meters” of efforts to end the war
In remarks carried by Sky News Arabia on Sunday, Kellogg said that diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict had reached what he described as “the final ten meters”.
He noted that the war has resulted in significant human losses, with the death toll on both the Russian and Ukrainian sides exceeding two million since it began.
Moscow: Contacts with Washington are not focused solely on a ceasefire.
In contrast, the Russian presidential aide emphasized that the ongoing contacts between Moscow and Washington are not limited to discussing a ceasefire. Rather, they aim to reach an early and comprehensive settlement to the conflict, indicating both sides’ desire to explore broader solutions than simply a de-escalation on the ground.
