Baghdad, Iraq – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has ordered an urgent investigation to determine responsibility and hold those responsible accountable. This follows an error in Decision No. (61 of 2025) issued by the Committee for Freezing Terrorist Funds, published in the Iraqi Gazette, Issue No. (4848), dated November 17, 2025.
The government clarified that the error concerned the inclusion of the Lebanese Hezbollah and the Yemeni Houthis on the asset freeze list. In contrast, the Iraqi side’s agreement was limited to listing entities and individuals linked to the ISIS and al-Qaeda terrorist organizations, as requested by Malaysia.
In a statement, the Sudanese Prime Minister affirmed that the government will work to determine responsibility and hold those responsible accountable. He further emphasized that Iraq’s political and humanitarian stances regarding the aggression against Lebanon and Palestine are principled and unwavering, reflecting the will of the Iraqi people in all their diversity. He added that Iraq supports the right of these brotherly nations to liberation and a dignified life on their own land.
The government also stressed its rejection of political posturing. It further affirmed Iraq’s commitment to the principles of standing against occupation, aggression, genocide, and forced displacement. It also rejected all acts of aggression that the international community ignores.
