Beirut, Lebanon – Samir Geagea, head of the Lebanese Forces party, called for the establishment of
a legitimate military balance that would allow for the cessation of Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
He said: We must enlist the help of Lebanon’s friends to pressure Israel to stop
its attacks and withdraw from the country.
Geagea addressed his message to the President of the Lebanese Republic
and the Prime Minister of Lebanon, to confront the Israeli aggression
that targeted the southern suburbs.
He said: We cannot act as usual: attacking and cursing Israel,
and filing a complaint with the Security Council.
These steps have never been of any use,
and they certainly won’t be of any use today.
Legitimate military balance
He said: If we have any way, and I emphasize any way,
to establish a legitimate military balance
that would enable us to stop Israeli attacks on Lebanon,
If we have any means to achieve this, let’s adopt it immediately.
But if we do not have this option, as is clear and obvious,
then we are left with only one path:
Seeking help from Lebanon’s friends, both in the West and the East,
foremost among them the United States of America and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
With my love and respect for all others, this is to put pressure
on Israel to stop its attacks and withdraw from Lebanon.
What the United States and Saudi Arabia are asking for in terms
of assistance is simply the establishment of a functioning state in Lebanon.
It monopolizes all weapons and all military and security decisions.
Originally, before this became a demand of Washington,
Riyadh and other Western and Arab capitals, it was a demand of all of us Lebanese.
Starting with the Taif Agreement, passing through Security Council Resolutions 1559, 1680 and 1701,
And it does not end with the agreement of November 27, 2024
and the Cabinet decisions of August 5 and 7, 2025.
Emergency session
I hope the Cabinet will be called to an emergency session to implement
the Cabinet decisions of August 5 and 7, and to hold swift consultations.
And in depth and in all detail with the United States of America,
the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the rest of Lebanon’s friends,
This is to utilize their capabilities to permanently stop Israeli aggression,
withdraw Israel from Lebanon, and return to the 1949 Armistice Agreement.”
