Moscow, Russia – Russia announced that it has not received any official documents from the United States
regarding the proposed peace plan to end the war in Ukraine.
This is despite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s
announcement of his readiness
To deal with the “vision” of US President Donald Trump’s
administration to end the conflict.
Rejected clauses
According to the BBC, the leaked plan includes clauses that Kyiv has previously rejected.
This includes relinquishing control
of parts of the Donetsk region still held
by Ukraine, and reducing the size of the army.
The pledge not to join NATO—clauses that, according to observers,
appear heavily biased in favor of Moscow.
Despite internal criticism in Ukraine, Zelensky’s office
issued only a cautious response.
He stressed that Kyiv “is still carefully studying the American proposals.”
Internal crisis
The BBC explained that the draft plan emerged at a time
when Russia was making limited gains in eastern Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Zelensky is facing a domestic crisis linked
to a $100 million corruption scandal.
Meanwhile, Russian forces continue their missile strikes.
Six civilians were killed overnight – five in the Zaporizhzhia region
and one in Dnipropetrovsk –
According to reports carried by the BBC from Ukrainian authorities.
Amendments to the draft
For its part, the White House denied reports that Ukraine had been
excluded from negotiations to prepare the proposal.
He noted that the plan was formulated “directly” after consultations
with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustam Omerov,
According to what was reported by CBS, a BBC partner channel.
The US official said that Omerov made changes
to the draft before presenting it to Zelensky.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian minister denied via Telegram that
he had given any official approval for it.
Addressing the roots of the crisis
In Moscow, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said
Russia “sees some new elements,
but we have not received anything official yet.”
He affirmed that his country is “completely open” to dialogue,
but stressed the need to address the “root causes of the crisis”.
This is an expression that Kyiv interprets as extreme Russian
demands that practically mean Ukrainian surrender.
These developments come as the Trump
administration increases pressure to end the war.
Washington has imposed new sanctions
on Russia’s two largest oil companies.
