Moscow, Russia – The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its air force and ground defenses engaged in a tense night across several fronts, during which they intercepted and shot down 65 Ukrainian drones targeting locations within Russian territory and along the contact lines.
The ministry explained that the interception was carried out using multiple air defense systems, including radar and fast interceptor units. It also confirmed that the Ukrainian attack was part of Kyiv’s intensified use of drones in recent days.
According to the statement, Russian air defenses dealt with successive waves of drones “completely successfully.” It noted that no significant damage or casualties resulted from the attack. This is considered one of the largest aerial attempts thwarted in recent times, amid escalating tensions between the two sides along the front lines.
These developments come as the two sides continue to exchange drone strikes. These drones have become one of the most prominent weapons in the ongoing conflict, given their ability to reach deep into enemy territory and deliver precise strikes at a lower cost compared to conventional weapons.
