Skopje, Macedonia – The northern Macedonian capital, Skopje, witnessed massive protests involving thousands of citizens,
ahead of the start of the trial of those accused in the devastating fire.
Which broke out inside a nightclub and resulted in the death of 63 people and the injury of dozens.
The protesters, including families of the victims and survivors, gathered
They are demanding a fair trial and accountability for those responsible
for the negligence that led to the worst fire the country has ever seen.

Corruption and administrative negligence
The protesters chanted slogans demanding a full investigation into the circumstances.
They raised pictures of the victims and banners denouncing what
they described as corruption and administrative negligence.
The first trial session is scheduled to begin on November 19.
The club owner, several employees, and local officials are facing
charges related to breaching safety standards and gross negligence.
Initial investigations indicate that the fire was caused by the use of fireworks inside the hall.
This was at a time when the club was operating without a license
and with only one emergency exit, which led to a high number of victims.
