Tehran, Iran – Mohammad Javad Larijani, head of Iran’s Institute of Basic Sciences, announced today that Iran possesses the capability to produce a nuclear bomb “in less than two weeks,” despite its adherence to a fatwa issued by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei prohibiting nuclear weapons.

Larijani made controversial remarks, saying, “We have put forward a new theory: any country can acquire a nuclear bomb in less than two weeks. That country says it doesn’t want one.” He asserted that Khamenei’s fatwa is based on “solid jurisprudential foundations.” However, he indicated that the nuclear decision remains political and ideological.

These statements coincide with warnings from the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, who said that Iran’s current stockpile of enriched uranium is enough to produce about ten nuclear bombs if Tehran decides to weaponize it.

Reports of increased missile cooperation between Iran and China have also raised concerns in Washington, prompting some Republican lawmakers to call for additional sanctions or even consider a military response.

Foreign policy experts in the US Congress agree that any Iranian acquisition of nuclear weapons would pose an “unacceptable threat” to the security of the United States and the world. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump continues to warn of possible military action if Iran attempts to resume its nuclear program.
