Tel Aviv, Israel – Former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen said in an interview with Fox News that Iran is in a completely different situation after the 12-day military strike. He asserted that Iranian nuclear facilities were completely destroyed in the joint US-Israeli attack.
Cohen, who served as head of the Mossad until 2012, added: “I fully accept President Trump’s statements regarding the destruction of Iranian nuclear facilities in a joint attack. I am certain that Iran is no longer enriching uranium these days. This is a great achievement.”
Cohen continued, “Iran realized first that Israel has the capability to destroy its nuclear facilities. Second, it now knows that Israel is capable of carrying out these attacks again if necessary.”
He noted that the attacks included the destruction of Iranian defense systems and Revolutionary Guard sites. Their “terrorists” were also pursued in various Iranian cities, including Tehran. He said, “The most serious aspect of this operation was the destruction of the nuclear facilities that posed an existential threat to Israel.”
Cohen asserted that “Iran knows we’ve done a great job.” He added, “And more importantly, Iran knows that if it makes any mistake in the future, we can punish it.”
Trump’s statements and the 12-day war
Earlier, US President Donald Trump had confirmed that the joint US-Israeli attack had destroyed Iranian nuclear facilities. In a letter to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, he explained that if negotiations failed to produce results, war was a possibility.
Trump said during a visit to Israel: “If the United States had not attacked Iranian nuclear facilities, Iran would have been able to acquire nuclear weapons in just two months.”
According to reports, the joint US-Israeli military operation has completely altered the course of Iran’s nuclear program, prompting Tehran to reassess its near-term nuclear plans.
