Hungary – Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán criticized Western policies toward the war in Ukraine, asserting that any support these countries provide to Kyiv does not contribute to peace but rather prolongs the conflict.
Orban stated sharply that “anyone who supports Ukraine with weapons or money is supporting the war itself.” He emphasized that Hungary maintains its position calling for a ceasefire and a return to the negotiating table.
He added that his country would not be drawn into what he called an “escalation frenzy.” He explained that the only way out of the crisis was a peaceful solution, not the influx of more weapons.
Orban’s remarks come at a time of increasing European pressure on Budapest. Some are urging it to change its stance of refusing to provide new military or financial aid to Kyiv.
