Cairo, Egypt – The Egyptian Ambassador to Beirut, Alaa Moussa, met with both Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun and Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. The meetings addressed ways to support and develop cooperation between the two brotherly countries. They also discussed the latest developments on the Lebanese and regional scenes.

Meeting with His Excellency the President of the Lebanese Republic

President General Joseph Aoun received Ambassador Alaa Moussa at Baabda Palace, the headquarters of the Lebanese Presidency.

During the meeting, the Egyptian ambassador conveyed the greetings and appreciation of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The ambassador affirmed Egypt’s confidence in President Aoun’s competence and ability to lead the country through this critical juncture in Lebanon’s history.

The two sides discussed all current regional developments and ways to strengthen bilateral relations and joint coordination between Cairo and Beirut.

Ambassador Moussa affirmed Egypt’s continued full support for Lebanon and the efforts of the Lebanese leadership. These efforts aim to strengthen state institutions and launch the reconstruction and economic recovery processes.

The ambassador also stressed Egypt’s categorical rejection of Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement. He demanded a complete Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Lebanese territories. He emphasized the necessity of enabling the Lebanese army to extend its control over all Lebanese territory, including border areas.

For his part, President Joseph Aoun expressed Lebanon’s pride in the historical and fraternal relations that bind it to Egypt. He praised Cairo’s pivotal role in supporting regional stability and expressed his confidence that Egypt would remain true to its enduring commitment to standing by Lebanon.

Meeting with the Prime Minister of Lebanon

Ambassador Alaa Moussa also met with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. During the meeting, they discussed preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Egyptian-Lebanese Joint Higher Committee, scheduled for this week. They explored ways to maximize the benefits of the meeting in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various fields.

The meeting also addressed the depth of Egyptian-Lebanese relations and ways to develop them in the political, economic, and cultural fields. They also exchanged views on the latest Lebanese and regional developments.

During the meeting, Ambassador Moussa reiterated Egypt’s unwavering support for Lebanon. He emphasized Egypt’s commitment to assisting Lebanon on its path towards stability and economic recovery.
