Sudan – The head of the Resilience Alliance and former Sudanese Prime Minister, Abdalla Hamdok, met with the German State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Serap Güler. They discussed the repercussions of the war in Sudan, including widespread destruction, the deaths of hundreds of thousands, and the displacement of millions of civilians.
The meeting affirmed that military solutions are futile. It also stressed the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities to preserve the unity of Sudan and its people, and to maintain security and stability throughout the region.
Hamdok presented the vision of the Forces of the Civil Democratic Revolution Alliance (Sumud) for ending the war through a comprehensive process. This process is based on three main tracks: a ceasefire, the provision of humanitarian aid, and a genuine, Sudanese-owned and Sudanese-led political process. He emphasized the importance of close coordination among the various regional and international initiatives.
The former prime minister praised Germany’s continued attention to the situation in Sudan since the outbreak of war. He also highlighted its ongoing contributions through collective initiatives and humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of civilians. This reflects the strong historical ties between Germany and Sudan.
