Cairo, Egypt – Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, held a phone call with Mossad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the US President for Arab and Middle East Affairs and Senior Advisor for African Affairs. The call was to discuss developments in both Sudan and Libya.
Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that during the call, the two sides emphasized the importance of reaching an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Sudan. They also emphasized the need to preserve Sudan’s unity, territorial integrity, and national institutions, in order to safeguard the resources of the Sudanese people and fulfill their aspirations for security and stability.
The official spokesperson added that the two sides discussed the latest developments in the Libyan crisis and stressed the importance of unifying Libyan institutions in preparation for legislative and presidential elections, thus fulfilling the Libyan people’s aspirations for stability and development.
The two parties also agreed to continue coordination and consultation on relevant regional and international efforts. They will follow up on the efforts of the UN envoy to Libya to reach a comprehensive political solution that achieves consensus among all Libyan parties.
