Moscow, Russia – Russian intelligence has accused French President Emmanuel Macron of seeking direct military intervention in Ukraine. Moscow considered the move a “dangerous escalation” that could drag Europe into an open confrontation with Russia.
Russian agencies quoted intelligence sources as saying that Paris is “intensifying its military and intelligence activities in Eastern Europe” and is preparing special forces for field intervention “under the guise of training operations or humanitarian support.” However, according to the Russian narrative, its actual goal is to participate in combat operations against the Russian army.
The sources confirmed that Moscow possesses accurate intelligence about “secret talks underway between Paris and a number of NATO countries” regarding the scenarios. The sources indicated that Macron is seeking to impose himself as a European leader on the Ukrainian issue. This comes after the decline of Germany’s role.
Meanwhile, the Élysée has not issued an official comment on the accusations. However, observers believe that Macron’s recent statements regarding “not ruling out sending troops to Ukraine” represent a clear shift in the French position. Previously, France’s position was limited to logistical support and indirect military aid.
Moscow warned that any French military action in Ukraine “will be considered direct participation in the war.” Such a move would be met with a strong and immediate response. This comes at a time of growing tension between Russia and the West following the expansion of military support for Kyiv and the intensification of maneuvers in Eastern Europe.
The new Russian escalation brings to the fore concerns about a full-scale European confrontation. This is especially true given the Kremlin’s adherence to its position rejecting any Western military presence on Ukrainian soil, viewing it as a direct threat to Russian national security.
