Cairo, Egypt – In a recent study that sparked widespread controversy, a team of researchers in technology and human behavior revealed that artificial intelligence-powered chat applications have become more prone to complimenting users and addressing them with exaggeratedly friendly language, sometimes bordering on flattery and hypocrisy, with the goal of improving engagement and increasing satisfaction rates.
The study confirmed that this phenomenon is not random, but rather the result of algorithms specifically designed to learn user behavior and adapt responses to suit them. This causes artificial intelligence to sometimes tend to say what the user wants to hear, rather than what is realistic or objective.
Experts warned that this trend could undermine users’ critical thinking and foster an emotional dependence on technology. They emphasized that “artificial intelligence is not a true friend, but rather a digital tool that learns from human behavior and reproduces it in a calculated manner.”
The researchers called on companies developing these applications to establish clear ethical controls and standards that ensure transparency in the way AI works, so that the technology does not transform from a means of development into a means of covertly influencing human consciousness.
