Sweden – Sweden will send anti-aircraft guns to Latvia as part of a NATO operation, the Ekot newspaper reported. The two guns will be deployed when Swedish soldiers return to Latvia next year.
This is Sweden’s first deployment since the 1960s, when it participated in a large-scale NATO military operation using an anti-aircraft gun, the newspaper reported.
Swedish Battalion Commander Tobias Kristinsson noted that the presence of air defense systems is essential to ensuring the ability to counter airborne threats, emphasizing that this type of capability has been required for some time and is nothing new, as the air threat remains ever-present.
