Washington, United States – US President Donald Trump denied reports that Washington had allowed Ukraine to use long-range US missiles. He stressed that the United States does not intend to engage in new military adventures or ignite a large-scale war with Russia.
Trump said in statements reported by US media that his country should be a factor of calm, not an escalation. He stressed that the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine will serve no one’s interests. Rather, it will increase the suffering of the people and open the door to a global confrontation with unforeseen consequences.
He added that the US administration is required to work for peace, not war. He called for a return to the negotiating table as the only option to end the conflict. He warned that supplying Kyiv with long-range offensive weapons would lead to a “real catastrophe” that would threaten global security.
Trump’s statements come amid growing international calls for de-escalation. There are calls for a new political process that would end the longest war in Europe in decades, amid fears that the situation could slide into a direct confrontation between Moscow and Washington.
