Cairo, Egypt – The Egyptian presidential spokesman announced that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi decided, on Monday, to gift his American counterpart, Donald Trump, the Nile Necklace.
This comes in recognition of Trump’s outstanding contributions to supporting peace efforts and defusing conflicts.
The latest of which is his pivotal role in stopping the war in Gaza.
What is the Nile Necklace?
It is considered the highest Egyptian honor and is given to those who have made a distinguished contribution. This affects the lives of Egyptians.
It is awarded to heads of state and Egyptians with the utmost distinction.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog announced earlier that he would award the country’s highest civilian honor to his American counterpart.
This is in recognition of his role in securing the release of hostages in Gaza and helping to end the war.
“With his tireless efforts, President Trump has not only helped bring our loved ones home. He has also laid the foundations for a new era in the Middle East built on the foundations of security, cooperation, and genuine hope for a peaceful future,” Herzog said in a statement from his office.
He added: “It would be a great honor for me to award him the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor”.
Herzog explained that the medal will be awarded in the “coming months.” However, he will inform Trump of his decision during the US president’s visit to Israel on Monday.
On Monday, Israel and Hamas are scheduled to conduct an exchange of hostages and detainees. This is part of the first phase of the peace plan proposed by Trump.
