Cairo, Egypt – The Russian Security Council announced that Moscow and New Delhi will host a new round of high-level bilateral talks on regional security on Tuesday. These talks will cover the situations in Ukraine, South Asia, and the Middle East. This round of talks comes in preparation for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India, scheduled for December.
A statement from the Russian Security Council press office, reported by Sputnik, indicated that the consultations will be co-chaired. Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Alexander Venediktov and Deputy National Security Advisor to the Indian Prime Minister P. Kapoor will attend. The talks aim to exchange views on regional issues and preparations for Putin’s official visit.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had earlier met with his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly’s high-level week. They exchanged greetings, and the session later resumed behind closed doors. This was a step that underscored both sides’ keenness to strengthen security and diplomatic coordination. For his part, Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov stated that the tour would also discuss preparations for Putin’s visit to India before the end of the year. He emphasized the importance of strengthening strategic relations between Moscow and New Delhi in various fields, especially security and politics.
