Among them are two officers. Deaths in a tribal conflict in Iraq
The Ministry of Interior has not specified the cause of the dispute/agencies

Baghdad, Iraq – Four people, including two officers, were killed Saturday evening in a tribal conflict in eastern Baghdad, the Iraqi Interior Ministry announced.

The ministry announced, at dawn on Sunday, in a statement, “the promotion of two heroic federal police officers and the injury of 5 other members with varying injuries” during “the resolution of a tribal conflict in the Al-Saada area near the gas plant on the Rusafa side of Baghdad”.

Security forces responded to a “direct armed attack by the elements causing the conflict.”

This was in an operation that resulted in “the killing of two attackers, the injury of 5 others, and the arrest of 6 people involved”.

The Ministry of Interior did not specify the cause of the dispute.

She stressed that “the measures will be a deterrent against all criminals and those involved in inciting tribal strife and armed conflicts, and there will be no leniency in pursuing them until the last moment”.

Iraq, which has about 46 million people, has witnessed wars, sectarian violence and battles over decades.

These include the US invasion of Iraq in 2003 and ISIS’s control of large parts of the country between 2014 and 2017.

These conflicts left hundreds of thousands dead.

Over the years, light and heavy weapons have spread in the country, where tribal conflicts and political score-settling also abound.
