Beirut, Lebanon – US envoy Morgan Ortagus is scheduled to arrive in Beirut on Sunday.
The visit is limited to meetings of a security nature, as it is limited to meetings with military officials.
In this context, sources confirmed that the American delegation will hold a meeting with the committee supervising the implementation of the ceasefire agreement. The meeting will take place in Ras Naqoura.
The delegation will also visit the leadership of the South Litani region in Tyre.
On the eve of Ortagus’ visit, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, during his meeting with the Commander of US Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, called for pressure on Israel to withdraw from Lebanese territory.
And to activate the work of the Mechanism Committee to implement the provisions of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement.
President Aoun also stressed the importance of continued US support for the Lebanese army. This support allows it to carry out the many tasks assigned to it.
Which he began despite the difficult economic conditions, while Cooper praised the distinguished work carried out by the army.
In this context, Lebanese Army Commander Rudolf Heikal and Cooper discussed the general situation in Lebanon and the region.
In addition to ways to support the Lebanese army in light of the current challenges.
The meeting, held in the Lebanese city of Yarzeh, was attended by an American delegation. It was also attended by the head of the five-member oversight committee, Michael J. Linney.
On the other hand, Lebanese Minister of Displaced Persons Kamal Shehadeh confirmed that the arms inventory plan bears the name “Homeland Shield.” It includes 5 stages.
