Agencies Seoul, South Korea – Big Hit Music, the record label of HYP Entertainment which manages South Korean boy band BTS, announced that the group’s new album, “Arirang,” sold 3.98 million copies on its first day of release.
“Arirang” is a popular Korean song.
The album is BTS’s first group project since their catalogue album “Proof,” released in June 2022. The new album takes its name from “Arirang,” a popular Korean song often described as the unofficial national anthem.
The group’s fifth album Big Hit Music described it as embodying BTS’s identity as a group that originated in Korea, along with “the longing and deep love in their hearts.” This is the group’s fifth album and their first since the members paused group activities to focus on individual projects and their military service.
