London, Britain – A spokeswoman for Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex and wife of Prince Harry, the British heir to the throne,
said that the latter had succeeded in conveying a message to her father, Thomas Markle.
This is despite what she described as a “clear violation of ethical standards”
by the Daily Mail, which sent a reporter to stay with him in the hospital.
The Daily Mail group strongly denied the allegations, asserting in
a statement that they were “completely false”.
She noted that journalist Caroline Graham has been friends
with Thomas Markle since 2018,
She went to visit him at his request after his health deteriorated.
Meghan’s escalation comes weeks before her husband Prince Harry’s trial
against the Daily Mail publisher begins.
This is in the context of the lawsuit he filed regarding alleged privacy violations.
Meghan’s father’s leg was amputated
According to reports, Thomas Markle is receiving treatment at a hospital
in the Philippines after undergoing a leg amputation.
A spokesperson for the Duchess said that Meghan – who married Prince Harry in 2018 –
I tried to contact my father during the past few days despite a rift that lasted for years.
She added: “Given that a Daily Mail reporter was by her father’s side the whole time,
And transferring all the details of his condition from the hospital room,
it became very difficult for the Duchess to communicate with him privately.”
She added that the message finally reached her father “through trusted intermediaries”.
In contrast, the Daily Mail said the journalist had not violated any journalistic rules,
and that she was providing support and care to Thomas Markle at his request.
She confirmed that his whereabouts were reported to Megan’s team immediately after he agreed.
A series of legal disputes
Meghan and Harry have been engaged in a series of lawsuits
against media organizations since 2019.
This is part of what the prince describes as a “battle for truth and accountability”
after years of press intrusion into their private lives.
The new trial, which also includes singer Elton John,
is scheduled to begin early next year.
This concerns allegations against the Daily Mail of illegal spying practices dating back 30 years.
It is worth noting that Meghan’s relationship with her father became strained days
before her wedding after photos taken of him in coordination
with paparazzi photographers were published.
Harry and Meghan currently reside in California with their two children.
British reports indicate that her father moved from Mexico to the Philippines earlier this year.
