Cairo, Egypt – The 46th Cairo International Film Festival kicked off today, Wednesday, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, with the participation of 150 films from around the world.
Distributed across 11 competitions and parallel programs, it offers the public and critics a diverse and rich cinematic experience.
Festival competitions and programmes
The films compete in the festival’s official competitions or are shown in parallel programs.
The international competition includes 14 films,
and the official non-competition section includes 15 films.
Critics’ Week Competition: 8 films; Horizons of Arab Cinema Competition: 9 films
Also, the short film competition: 24 films, the special screenings program:
18 films, and the international panorama: 18 films.
Midnight Screenings Program: 5 films; Cairo Classics Program: 12 films
Also, the Restored Egyptian Films Program: 21 films,
and the Egyptian Panorama Program outside of competition: 6 films.

Cultural and artistic communication
This year’s festival aims to showcase a diverse range of cinematic experiences,
including international and local productions.
It provides a platform for young talents and independent filmmakers
to present their work to a wide audience of critics and experts.
