Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Championship will kick off on Friday morning at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City in the capital, Abu Dhabi. With the participation of more than 2,000 male and female players from 75 countries around the world in various categories.
The tournament will be held over three days, and the first day’s competitions will be dedicated to professors and amateurs.
The tournament is of particular importance as it is the final round of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam World Series this season. After successful stops held in Moscow, Rome, Rio de Janeiro and Istanbul. Reflecting Abu Dhabi’s advanced position in leading and developing jiu-jitsu globally, and its pivotal role in consolidating the game’s presence and spread across various continents.
Supporting the “Year of the Family”
The tournament is scheduled to witness the implementation of the “Crown Your Son” initiative during the second day’s competitions dedicated to the categories of buds, cubs and juniors, in support of the “Year of the Family”. This is within the framework of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and the Abu Dhabi Association of Jiu-Jitsu Professionals’ keenness to enhance the role of the family in supporting children, motivating them to practice sports, and consolidating the positive values associated with it.
The competitions also witness the implementation of the “Falcon Eye” arbitration system with the aim of enhancing levels of transparency and accuracy in arbitration decisions. To ensure the highest levels of fairness among players, in addition to providing coaches with the opportunity to be present on their designated platforms inside the hall. To provide technical instructions to players during matches in accordance with approved regulations.
The organizing committee announced the completion of all preparations for hosting the event, as the competitions will be held on 9 stalls during the first and third days. The second day will witness the fights being held on 11 mats to accommodate the large number of participants in different age groups.
Global tours of the tournament
This weekend, the Abu Dhabi Association of Jiu-Jitsu Professionals tour will witness the holding of 7 tournaments in 7 countries around the world. It includes Mongolia, the UAE, Colombia, Chile, China, Romania and Russia, with a total participation of 4,931 male and female players.
In addition to the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Championship, the Abu Dhabi Regional League Championship will be held in Mongolia today, Thursday, with the participation of 513 male and female players representing 30 academies.
On Saturday, Colombia will also host the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu – Mosquera International Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2026, with the participation of 350 male and female players from 9 countries and 33 academies. Chile is hosting the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association – Chile National Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2026, with the participation of 369 male and female players from 11 countries and 54 academies.
In Romania, the Brasov International Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2026 will be held with the participation of 293 male and female players from 6 countries and 29 academies. While China will host the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association – Erlian Regional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2026 on May 16 and 17, with the participation of 596 male and female players from 4 countries and 40 academies.
The events will conclude next Sunday with the St. Petersburg Jiu-Jitsu Festival 2026 in Russia. With the participation of 421 male and female players from 10 countries and 37 academies.
