Abu Dhabi, UAE – Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Managing Director and CEO of ADNOC, issued a strong warning regarding the ongoing threats to international navigation. He emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz has never been the property of Iran to control or restrict movement through.
Speaking on the X platform today, Al-Jaber revealed a shocking toll of military tensions since February 28. He stated that at least 22 ships have been targeted, resulting in the deaths of 10 crew members. He explained that the crisis has left approximately 20,000 seafarers stranded, unable to cross safely. Furthermore, some 800 commercial vessels, including 400 oil tankers, are currently inaccessible. This puts global energy security at risk.
Al-Jaber stressed that any attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz transcends being merely a regional conflict. It becomes a direct threat to the lifeblood of the global economy, food security, and the health of all nations. He described such behavior as “illegal, dangerous, and unacceptable,” emphasizing that the international community cannot afford the consequences of such an escalation or allow it to occur. This is due to the vital role the Strait plays as an indispensable artery for daily life across all continents.
