Abu Dhabi, UAE – His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs,
discussed regional developments following the recent escalation in
a series of telephone calls with several foreign ministers of brotherly and friendly nations.
He also discussed the Iranian missile attacks targeting several countries in the region.
Contacts with the foreign ministers of several countries
The calls included Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Saudi Foreign Minister; Ayman Safadi,
the Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister;
and Fernando Aramayo, the Bolivian Foreign Minister.
The latest developments in the region were reviewed, and their implications
for regional security and stability were discussed.
Emphasizing the need to adhere to the ceasefire
The talks addressed US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a two-week ceasefire
between the United States and Iran. Abdullah bin Zayed stressed the importance of Iran’s full commitment to ceasing all hostilities.
He also emphasized the need for immediate steps to de-escalate tensions and prevent a recurrence of attacks.
The importance of protecting navigation and energy security
The UAE Foreign Minister stressed the necessity of fully and unconditionally reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
