Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum will offer a range of family activities during the month of April inspired by the museum’s collection. Which combines “family weekends” with “featured after-school activities”. It focuses on creative learning based on the artistic masterpieces displayed in the museum.
The program was designed to instill a culture of creativity and knowledge among families and students through guided tours of exhibition halls and interactive workshops.
Weekly workshops
The events include weekly thematic workshops based on art-based learning. Each weekend focuses on a specific topic.
The first workshop, titled “Family Paintings Inspired by Picasso,” will kick off on April 4 and 5, exploring Pablo Picasso’s style of depicting family members and loved ones. By using transparent sheets to create multi-layered charts and turn them into expressive family paintings.
The “Make a Coin from Aluminum Foil” workshop will also be held on April 11 and 12. Participants design commemorative coins inspired by the museum’s coin collection while exploring concepts of value, exchange and memory across examples from different civilizations.
The weekend workshops will conclude with the “Design Your Travel Book or Postcard” workshop on April 18 and 19. Inspired by the work of Paul Klee, it invites participants to express their travel and journey experiences. By designing postcards and diaries using colors and decorations and writing letters to loved ones.
school programme
From the beginning of April until the end of June 2026, the museum organizes an “after-school activities” program every Tuesday for students at various educational levels. To learn about the museum’s collections through various topics including UAE heritage, Islamic art, geometric patterns, emotions, and animal depiction in art.
The sessions begin in the exhibition halls, followed by drawing activities accompanied by museum guides using brochures designated as part of the “Let’s Draw” activity. Which encourages observation, self-expression, and attention to detail. Artworks being explored include a work titled “Diffusion” by Giuseppe Benoni along with various historical pieces of art.
The museum also organizes a “Search and Discover” session every Wednesday, to learn about tangible heritage and its preservation processes, and to explore how natural and artificial materials are used to create works of art. Through interactive tours and puzzle solving inside the exhibition halls.
Developing drawing skills
The programs also include special drawing sessions every Wednesday. Designed to develop the arts skills of third-year students, it focuses on nature-inspired drawing and visual documentation. Students view selected artworks such as the painting “A Young Prince While Studying” by artist Osman Hamdi Bey, before participating in practical applications within the exhibition halls.
It also organizes workshops inspired by the works of Pablo Picasso every Thursday, as part of an educational track at the “Picasso” exhibition. Visualization of Form, during which students learn about selected works such as “Woman with Mandolin” and “Paloma”. The session concludes with interactive activities that enhance creative understanding of the art of photographing people.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum invited families and students to enjoy these diverse programs. He urged parents to participate in the free daily guided tours, which will continue until April 30.
