Abu Dhabi, UAE – Khalifa University of Science and Technology achieved sixth place globally in the petroleum engineering major in the QS World University Rankings by major for the year 2026, advancing from seventh place in the 2025 rankings.
The university also recorded significant progress in a number of engineering specializations.
Rise in electrical engineering specialization
The field of engineering and technology was ranked 131st globally, and the specialty of electrical and electronic engineering rose to 92nd place.
The chemical engineering major has made a significant leap by entering the list of the world’s top 100 institutions at number 94, after being in the 151–200 category in 2025.
Three specializations at the university were included in the list of the top 100 institutions in the world, and three other specializations were included in the top 150 institutions in the world.
The total number of internationally ranked majors at Khalifa University has reached 15 majors in different categories according to the QS World University Rankings by major for the year 2026.
Computer Science major advancement
The mathematics major maintained its position among the top 150 institutions in the world, ranked 130th.
The mechanical engineering major ranked 133rd, and the computer science and information systems major advanced to 137th place.
This year witnessed a remarkable achievement, as the university entered the general classification of natural sciences for the first time.
It was ranked 220th globally.
The QS World University Rankings by major for 2026 includes an analysis of the academic reputations and scientific research outputs of 6,277 institutions worldwide.
