Sharjah, UAE – Sharjah Civil Defence announced that it had brought under control an accidental fire that broke out at a commercial facility housing petroleum tanks in the Sajaa Industrial Area. The fire was caused by a leak in one of the tanks on the site.

The Sharjah Government Media Office explained that the operations room received a report of the fire at 9:02 PM. Fire and rescue teams immediately responded to the scene. The teams began tackling the blaze according to established procedures.

The statement added that specialized teams quickly began extinguishing and controlling the fire. The objective was to prevent it from spreading to tanks or adjacent facilities within the industrial site.

Cooling and site security operations

Authorities confirmed that civil defense teams are continuing cooling operations at the fire site to prevent reignition. They also confirmed that the area surrounding the facility has been secured to ensure the safety of workers and nearby buildings.

Furthermore, necessary precautionary measures have been taken at the site, in coordination with relevant authorities. This aims to ensure a comprehensive response to the incident.

Investigations to determine the causes of the accident

Authorities indicated that investigations will begin as soon as cooling operations are complete to determine the circumstances of the fire. They are also working to identify the cause of the leak that led to the blaze within the facility.

The authorities emphasized that the incident was handled according to the highest safety standards and with a rapid response, all in order to protect lives and property.
